Part 1: Regulation CC Changes in 2020
Regulation CC, the statute that implements the Expedited Funds Availability Act, has been part of our compliance universe since the 80s. We have weathered changes to this regulation as our industry has evolved, but those changes have been few and far between. We are now coming up on one of the most significant changes in July as funds availability amounts are changing. Plans to address these changes were already in place here on the Network, but now more than ever, you need to understand what these changes mean for your consumers and for your institution. In a time when consumers are nervous about their funds and scams proliferate in the face of a global pandemic, it is critical that your frontline understand when and how to place a hold on funds to protect your consumers and your institution. They need to know how to accurately place holds and notify your customers and members of such holds. This webinar will provide the tools you need to reinforce compliance knowledge within your institution and prepare you for the changes to come.
Part 2: Regulation E Compliance
Regulation E is one of those regulations that doesn’t change frequently and on the surface appears straightforward. However, this is also one of the areas where regulators regularly and consistently cite violations. Don’t fall into that trap. We will walk through the Regulation from start to finish and go into the areas where regulators have cited issues. By the end of the webinar, you will have a sound understanding of how to comply, how to avoid common violations and how to set yourself up for success!
Part 3: The Many Facets of Reg B
Regulation B, also known as “ECOA”, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. As with many of the consumer protection regulations, Reg B compliance can present many opportunities for entanglement! We will help you sort through them so you can steer clear of potentially costly violations.
In this session we will delve into the following:
- Non-discrimination and prohibited bases
- Establishing joint intent
- Collecting demographic information (when and how, and when it is prohibited)
- Signature rules
- When an “inquiry” becomes an “application”
- Notification of action taken
- ECOA Valuations Rule
