Fraud Risk Basics
July 23 2020 18:00 - 19:00 UTC
It is never too early to focus on fraud risk in banking. Internal fraud attempts have increased significantly in the past three years. External fraud, including but not limited to identity theft are also on the rise. Regardless of how quickly the organization responds it never seems to be fast enough. The time is ripe to take a holistic look at fraud risk management because most financial institutions don’t look at fraud that way. Instead, fraud management and fraud controls area scattered throughout different departments, beneath different managers and seldom ever some together. Time to change that approach and assure stakeholders and shareholders that everything possible is being done to address this risk.
This is the first webinar that takes a look at the entire fraud management life cycle. In that review we are able to establish current process disconnects that add risk to the organization. As we explore the components of robust fraud management practices alternatives are shared with participants that will strengthen process, controls and oversight of this highly fluid risk.
The holistic approach to fraud management will address all key components of fraud management: from the fraud risk assessment to board reporting. While we will not dwell on the fraud risk assessment we will specifically focus, in detail, on: Governance Practices, Control Activities, Fraud Investigations, Fraud Monitoring and Auditing Fraud Risk Management. Participants will learn keys to implementing best practices and ensuring that the organization is fraud savvy.
